Bloemencorso Bollenstreek Parade Costume

The Bloemencorso Bollenstreek is one of the Netherlands' most iconic and colorful springtime traditions—a floral parade that winds through the heart of the country’s famed flower-growing region, the Bollenstreek or "Bulb District." Each year in April, floats adorned with hundreds of thousands of fresh tulips, hyacinths, and daffodils travel from Noordwijk to Haarlem, celebrating Dutch floral heritage with vibrant artistry, community spirit, and spectacular design.

This horse costume captures the essence of the Bloemencorso in miniature form. Drawing on the parade’s explosion of color and texture, the costume features bold floral patterns, shimmering sequins reminiscent of petals catching sunlight, and layered ribbons that echo the dynamic movement of the flower-covered floats. The red and pink ruffles around the neck evoke garlands of blossoms, while the black and gold fringe mimics the dramatic flair of the parade’s creative flourishes.

A tribute to spring, tradition, and Dutch ingenuity, this costume transforms the horse into a living float—celebrating the joy, craftsmanship, and floral beauty of the Bloemencorso Bollenstreek.
